Starting therapy can bring up many questions. The answers below address some of the most common things people wonder about before beginning the process.

Getting started is simple. You can schedule a consultation through the website or reach out directly to find a time that works for you.
During this initial conversation, we will briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and determine whether my practice feels like a good fit for your needs.

This is 15 minute telehealth video chat or phone call that gives us an opportunity to ensure I am the best fit for your therapy needs.
During this call I will
have a few basic questions about your goals for therapy,
clarify any scheduling needs or preferences you may have and
answer and questions you may have for me!

I offer in-person sessions for clients in Florida.
I offer telehealth sessions for clients age 13+ in both Alabama and Florida.
Telehealth sessions allow you to participate in therapy from the comfort of your home while still receiving the same level of care and support.
I am unable to provide telehealth to anyone under the age or 13 at this time.

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will talk about what has been going on in your life, what concerns you may have, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
For older children and teens, the first appointment typically includes both the child and their parent or guardian so that we can gather background information and discuss goals for therapy.
The first session for children under age 10 will be just parents in order to ensure we are most successfully able to collect background information and discuss goals for therapy. -
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Meeting consistently at the beginning helps build momentum and allows us to develop a strong therapeutic relationship.
As progress is made, some clients choose to meet less frequently depending on their needs and goals. You are able to select the frequency with with you attend sessions for yourself and/or your child.

Each session is 55 minutes. The length of time an individual will continuously attend therapy varies for each person. Some individuals benefit from short-term support focused on a specific concern, while others choose to stay in therapy longer as they work through deeper patterns or life transitions.
We will check in regularly about progress and adjust the approach as needed.

My practice operates on a private-pay basis, meaning I do not bill insurance directly.
Some clients choose to use out-of-network benefits through their insurance provider. If requested, I can provide documentation in the form of a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
It is important to note insurance companies require a diagnosis on all superbills. A mental health diagnosis is a permanent part of a client’s medical records.
I do accept HSA and FSA cards.

It’s very common for children and teens to feel unsure about therapy at first. Many young people are hesitant simply because they don’t know what to expect.
My approach focuses on building a comfortable and supportive environment so that children and teens can gradually feel safe opening up. If a child or teen is resistant, we can also work with parents to identify helpful ways to support them and reduce some of that initial hesitation.
However, if your child or teen remains resistant to therapy and/or is adamant about not attending, it is not helpful to continue to force sessions. If this is the case, I will work collaboratively with you and your child or teen to determine the best way to proceed in the most supportive and respectful way possible.
