About Cathleen

I’m Cathleen Campion, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy for children, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, and life transitions.

I completed my Master of Social Work from the University of Central Florida. Prior to that, I attended Florida State University where I double majored in Family & Child Sciences and Sociology and completed an additional certificate program in Developmental Disabilities. My education focused heavily on understanding how individuals develop within the context of families, relationships, and larger systems—something that continues to shape the way I approach my interaction with clients today.

Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings supporting individuals and families facing complex emotional and behavioral challenges. My experience includes in-home counseling in collaboration with the juvenile justice system, community-based family services through FamiliesFirst Network, and inpatient behavioral health care at Baptist Behavioral Medicine Center.

While completing my education, I participated in internships and gained valuable experience at Sacred Heart Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Escambia County Jail, Meridian of Lakeview Center, and Leon County Early Head Start. These experiences provided a broad perspective on how emotional health develops and how different systems impact individuals and families.

Working across these settings has given me the privilege of supporting people from many different walks of life—children navigating big emotions, teens struggling to find their footing, and adults working through stress, trauma, and life transitions. These experiences have also reinforced my belief that meaningful change happens when people feel both understood and supported.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. I strive to create a steady and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with honesty and openness.

In my clinical work, I draw from several evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Play-based interventions

Every person who walks into therapy brings their own story, strengths, and challenges. Because of that, I tailor therapy to each individual’s developmental stage, personality, and goals.

Whether I’m working with a child learning to navigate big feelings, a teen managing growing pressures, or an adult seeking greater clarity and balance, my goal remains the same: helping people better understand themselves and develop the tools they need to move forward with confidence.

I believe growth often happens when people feel both fully seen for exactly who they are and empowered to become the version of themselves they would like to be. I strive to bring that balance into every therapeutic relationship.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy creative projects, spending time outdoors, and taking care of my two dogs!
